"Pulp" Culture
UPPER EAST SIDE, NYC | In some NYC dining spots, "hours" don't need to be discounted booze-infused to be "happy".
Popular UES rustic Latin restaurant La Pulperia already boasts an impressive list of beers, wines, and house special cocktails, and they proudly serve some of the neighborhood's tastiest dishes that don't need a single one of those excellent drinks to otherwise enjoy.
Even during happy hour, La Pulperia's menu pushes creatively enticing dishes to whet and sate the appetite, including a a daily selection of chef's choice oysters, variety of empanadas, a ceviche misto, and mini tacos stuffed with Verlasso salmon (mixed with avocado cream, grilled pineapple, spicy Kewpie mayo) and served in crispy-fried wonton skin shells.
As everything else served from chef Carlos Barroz' accomplished menu, this small handfuls pack plenty layers of flavors and textures into one bite. Refreshing clean and light, yet rich and substantial, the tacos (elevated with the aromatics of cilantro and fresh-squeezed lemon) are mini midday parties for the palate—each highlighted by the fireworks" of the spicy mayo and the extra crunch of the extra crispy fried wonton shells.
So although many folks enjoy Happy Hour for the early drink revelry, La Pulperia can help boost any late afternoon or early evening with some expertly prepared tasty vittles as well. I believe that's a lifestyle and dining option anyone can get on board with.
