I “Heart” The Green Monkey Chocolatier
Green Monkey Chocolatiers is Spreading the love for February/Valentine’s
I’ve made an enjoyable habit of visiting Barbados’ own The Green Monkey Chocolatier near monthly, primary to discover and enjoy each month’s Flavor of the Month.
And as they usually do a little extra for holidays (which they celebrate the full month), it is no surprise to see them offer a full six Valentine’s Day-themed macarons for the whole month of February.
Those six flavors are Fudge Brownie, Chocolate-Covered Strawberry, Passion Fruit, Vanilla Bean, Red Velvet, and Raspberry & Rose .
Obviously, some of those flavors are not Valentine-specific and are flavors that are usually offered year-round. But Green Monkey deftly adopts some of those usually available flavors to a Valentine theme by way of the macaron’s designs, such as employing food-painted roses on their staple (and delicious) Vanilla Bean, adding a gold stripe and icing inscription of “love” of their delightful passion fruit macaron.
The new invention of the bunch that I truly enjoyed was the Raspberry & Rose, with a nice yet not overwhelming burst of berry jam in its center, and a pleasingly subtle aroma hint of from rose oil.
I added only the tried-and-true Fudge Brownie, and look eagerly forward to ordering the Red Velvet and Chocolate-Covered Strawberry, proving yet again that I’m my own best Valentine!
