Danny's Burger Evolution

SO NOW I'M BACK TO free-lancing (long story, but for the most part, happily so...), which means that I now have more time to attend to my PHUDE duties, among many other things, and my good friend Danny reminded to take advantage of my new freedoms by joining him on a trip to the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the Museum of Natural History.

The Rose Center is the new planetarium, and Danny and I spent a good three hours or so playing tourists in our own hometown checking out the Earth and Space Center for the very first time, enjoying the planetarium show (both of us reminiscing about attending various rock music-themed laser shows with mind-altered friends and dates!), and reacquainting ourselves with the variety of taxidermy and fossilized bone arrangements we remembered from various class field trips years before our Led Zeppelin light shows.

After having walked for what seemed like miles through all the halls and pavillions, we worked up healthy appetites. I was surprised to learn that Danny had yet to try a burger from Shake Shack; so, of course, I had to escort him to the one directly across the street from the museum to be a part of another "first" for him.

We both ordered a Double ShackBurger, shared an order of crinkle-cut french fries, and I ordered one of the new "custards" (shakes) called a Car-Mallow Anthony (named for the newly acquired New York Knick), a yummy mix of vanilla frozen custard, caramel, marshmallow, and malt powder.

Danny became a fan of the burger after two quick bites—and absolutely loved the crinkle-cut fries, which I agree don't get the recognition they deserve—and is now more eager to be able to enjoy more of them from the Shake Shack on East 86th, just two and a half blocks from his apartment.

You've come a long way, Danny...! ;)
