Not Just Another Puff Piece

AS WHEN I LAST MADE a puff pastry pizza most recently, friends always ask if the price of groceries is worth the dishes that I make from them. That pizza, for example, cost a little over forty bucks for the puff pastry dough, four cheeses, and white truffle oil (itself almost a third of the expenses). I always have to remind them that it is worth the cost because a often don'y go through all the ingredients for just one dish.
The raw puff pastry comes two to a box—and I only used one for last week's pizza—and so with some extra finely thin slices of richly textured and flavored Calabrese ham, some mustard and dried rosemary, a pinch of shreddings from the large remainder of a parmesan block I still had, and with only the cost of one mere potato, I was able to put these ingredients all together into something that was tasty, fun, layered with flavors and textures, and filling without being heavy. Wish you were here...! ;)
