Happily "Hen"-Pecked

CHARITY SHOULD ALWAYS BE ITS own reward. When I offer my help or assistance, I usually don't expect anything in return. The knowledge that I in some small way made someone else's life better is payment enough.

Even when moving furniture, as when my neighbor upstairs, Katie, asked if I could help move her loveseat out of the apartment and down onto the street for collection. Being neighborly I of course said I would.

And, surprisingly so, the small couch wasn't nearly as heavy or cumbersome as I had expected, or as it even looked. We were out her apartment door and onto the street in easy effort.

But Katie herself being a dear friend insisted that she compensate me for my assistance, and she did so in grand style by giving me not one, but two of the best cupcakes the Upper East Side has to offer.

They were from Two Little Red Hens a new neighborhood fave on locally popular bakery, that produced these wonderful cupcakes: one, a Chocolate Peanut confection topped with chopped peanuts; the other, a rich luscious cloud of a Red Velvet goodness with cream cream frosting. Both—at separate times!—were heaven with a tall, ice cold glass of milk!

I now await further instructions from Katie...!
