NEW YORK CITY BEING THE, among other things, food capital of the world, it's no surprise that we have literally hundreds of FOOD FAIRS AND FESTIVALS that promote and celebrate the globally-represented cuisine we have to offer.
URBANSPACE is one of our more recent, prominent culinary promoters, as they collect some of the city's best, hippest, most eclectic, and most delicious food purveyors to ply and sell their edible wares out in the parks and on the streets of Gotham.
This warmer season they present Madison Square Eats, right on the outside corner of Madison Square Park in the FLATIRON section of Manhattan. On my first of what will be many visits, I made note to sample the food from food sellers I had yet to try at other food fest (such as this winter's BROADWAY BITES).
I sampled from two booths. The first was the shrimp corn dog from L & W OYSTER CO.—and excellent twist on a traditional corn dog where the "dog" is a sausage of chopped shrimp with pancetta and herbs—and a succulently delicious lobster B.L.T from Brooklyn-proud RED HOOK LOBSTER POUND with plump, sweet lobster meat and smoky, crispy bacon.
A very promising start for me at Madison Square Eats. And with at least another twenty food booths to try—most as well for the first time—I'd be crazy not to go back, and soon!
