KAC Surf & Turf Burgers

The Initial Entry Of A New Series

...Taste-wise, the sandwich boasts porky, salty, fatty, sweet, savory, bitter, acidic notes that excite pretty much every type of taste bud on the tongue, with the added bonus of some wonderful aromatics coming off the back of the mouth and up through the nose. Texture-wise, the sandwich boasts smooth, creamy, fleshy, crunchy, crispy, wet, dry, grainy, toasty, which delights every other part of the mouth, like the teeth and gums, and tongue as well. Add to all that as well the sizzling bacon, hot tomatoes, warm tomatoes, cool cider mayo, and ice cold lettuce, and you've got a sandwich that hits on every level.... [Full Post »]

Families First at "2nd" on First

...The pastrami teeming with flavor, and not just from its perfectly warmed and rendering fat, adding just the right amount of moisture to every bite. The lean folds highlighted the beef's natural earthiness and nuanced sweetness. The rye bread added aromatic hints, and the kicky, textured grain mustard made sure the every taste bud got something to enjoy..... [Full Post]

Stop By Go Burger

...My burger was very, very good, with a tasty juicy interior with a crumbly exterior with a respectable amount of crispiness on its edges. The warm, just slightly-tasted bun was airy and held up well under the burger's clear-running liquid, with cool crisp lettuce and thinly sliced tomatoes supporting the sandwich nicely without overwhelming its taste or architecture.... Like A Good Neighbor

...The side salad of arugula, fresh basil, cherry tomatoes and shaved parmesan was a perfect compliment to the dish, as was the wonderful glass of white wine, an Argentinian torrontés of bright, subtle citrus, apricot, and peach, with herbal hints, a nice "weight" (it doesn't "coat" the inside of your mouth), and finishing clean enough that you can still enjoy the flavors of whatever you're eating.... Fruitful Options

...We cleaned our plates—no small feat since these were not small portions—and I eventually convinced Danny that he couldn't really leave without having a dessert crepe, especially with the many options for fillings, from fruit to Nutella to nuts to whipped cream to Oreos to brownies to ice cream to granola and Graham crackers. We, again, customized our own dessert crepe stuffed with fresh bananas and strawberries, and cornflakes, and topped it with drizzles of dark and white chocolate.... [Full post]

Energy Kitchen

...There was a lot more to enjoy than previous incarnations of "healthy burgers" I've had in the past, the ostrich meat while quite lean, possessing a decent meat flavor without any gaminess. Crisp carrots and lettuce added nice texture and moisture, rounded out by aromatic hints from the whole wheat bun and a little "zing" of flavor from the packet ketchup I put on top.... [Full post]

Howdy, South Houston

...Fresh turkey was sliced thin, letting more air into each bite, which helped supply more of its flavor. Crispy pieces of porky, salty proscuitto accented the white meat turkey, nicely mellowed by the slightly sharp, cheesy sauce. Perfectly sunny-side up eggs oozed warm and silky over the whole yummy goodness, held up quite nicely by the sturdy Texas toast underneath and robust tomatoes. Ham, eggs, and cheese. Overall, it excelled with the depth of its simplicity.... [Full post]

Quick Post | You Wanna Pizza Me...?!

...On the second tortilla, I spread a thin layer of pesto sauce, then topped that with some shrimp I had briefly boiled, then some bacon bits. I drizzled some white truffle oil (expensive, yes, but worth it with the high number of applications it's capable of), and a "splattering" of black lumpfish caviar.... [Full post]
